Business Questionnaire

1)   What is your business?
High Tea - An English style tea shop.

2)   Describe your business in one sentence
A company serving English style afternoon tea and cakes, in an old fashioned English setting.

3)   Who is your target audience?
Foreign English people abroad in America missing the traditions of home, anyone who has visited and experienced the tradition, and just anyone who is interested in experiencing it. Looking to cater especially for brunch/lunch time dates, reading groups, ladies who lunch events etc.

4)   Who are your competitors?
Any cafe’s near by! And also oxford exchange.

5)   What makes them better/worse than your product/service?
Oxford Exchange offers a great service, however I would make mine more English. For example upon having their afternoon tea, it was lovely but nothing like one in England. I would ship in ingredients that I could from the UK to make it as authentic as possible. The layout and surrounding would also be more British. I would try and take the American spin off of things, something I have not found a restaurant, pub, or cafe do yet in the US.

These following questions might seem silly, but their purpose is to help generate ideas.
1)   How do you want your image to be seen in two years?

I would like to be seen in two years as a reliable, high class cafe. I want to be a place you can rely on to always serve top quality products, with high customer services levels.

2)   If your company was an animal, what animal would it be and why?
My company would be a Swan. This is because they are both elegant and reserved. They do not show off like a peacock, but are simple and elegant.

3)   If your company/brand was a person, who would it be and why?
Kate Middleton (cliche I know!) but she seems to embody the company. She is not originally royal, but yet manages to embody everything you imagine as royal. She is beautiful and elegant, and also fun and smiley. I would not want my company to be seen as too upperclass or too formal for the average person, and I think Kate is a good person for this!

4)   If your company/brand was an object, what would it be?
A China Tea cup. The tea cup however would have a none match saucer. The style I would go for would be a vintage teacup, where all the tea cups and saucers are elaborate, but non matching.

5)   If your customer was a cartoon character, who would it be?
Marianne Thornburry - Wild Thornburrys. Although seen as disciplinary, I think she is still a good example of an upper class woman, living a life style that does not match this!

Lyrical Collage

This is my lyrical collage! It is based on a lyrics from the song Brain Damage by Pink Floyd. It has always been one of my favourite songs and i love the lyric i chose! I started off with a simple field and storm background, adding in the screaming man and the lighting to his ear to show the first line. I struggled with the second line and decided to depict it with 2 separate member of the band walking away. Then for the last line i inserted a moon with a dark side (or course!) and in this dark side i placed a face. I am overall really happy with how this image turned out, it is simple, but i think portrays it well!

Playing around with Photoshop!

I really enjoyed this assignment playing around with Photoshop. I followed a tutorial to create this water graphic, and im really happy with how it turned out!

For this graphic i half followed a tutorial and half completed it on my own. it is just a simple swirl picture, but i had a lot of fun creating it, and it meant i had to work with duplicating, lightening and merging layers, something i had not yet experienced but now feel comfortable with!

Jay Adams!

I found this hard in some parts. I traced the breakthrough in illustrator, and could then not figure out how to not have it filled with white! other than that i am okay with how it looks, it is just very crowded!

Spending some time with the Queen

I found this project quite hard, as it is the first time I have really used photoshop! As a result of this i ended up making about 5 different pictures! i have always loved this picture of the Queen, so i thought i would try and place myself in it! i found the lighting particularly hard, i changed some of the colours and tones of the picture of my, but it still did not fully match the picture. I am reasonably happy with how this turned out.
